Story Jots #10 – Dying Truth

Hope was something she had let go of a long time ago. They all did. The only thing left was her and the few remaining days she felt she had to live. Her food was gone, and without a fire to boil the blankets of snow, consuming it to survive would only prolong the inevitable. Dead of winter had no mercy where she laid in wait, awaiting help she knew was not coming. Before long she too would be left frozen in time like everyone around her when their will to stay alive vanished. Those rotting bodies beside her were the only morbid company she kept. Her body ached and her mind continued to play tricks as she would awaken from unconscious drifts only to find herself still clinging to a cold pointless existence. She was scared but was getting used to the fact that she would die soon like those before her. Being the last soul alive it was now about preparing for it. Allowing the elements to take over and finally start to accept that this unforgiving place would be her prison forever. That was the dying truth.

Hey, Remember Me?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to touch base and let you know that I have been on the shelf lately with some health issues as well as having my laptop die on me. So, I have been trying to post using other computers and it has not gone well. Anyway, I have a new laptop on its way to me and will be back to doing what I love to do and that’s provide content for you, my faithful followers. All I ask is that you be a little more patient and Earth to Ash with be up and running full force in the next week or so.

As for my health, I am working through that too and this post is not to alarm anyone but to share with you another reason for being dormant these past few weeks. No need to be concerned, I am on the mend and will soon be able to put that behind me as well.

I also want to take this opportunity to say thank you for your loyalty and support. It’s been a long time since I started this journey of blogging, and this absence has proven that writing and connecting with you is a very important part of my life. I miss my audience like an appendage, but it won’t be for much longer.

Until…

The Elf All About Himself! (For the kids!!!)

Once upon a time,
there was an angry little elf.
Who thought of absolutely no one,

but of only himself.

He’s always so mad,
which made the other elves very sad,
with his complaints that work, work, work,

was all they ever had.

Even his friends,
would call him mean and selfish.
“Why are you not nice?”

Why are you not elfish?”

No matter what they say,
he swore he’d never listen,
because ending the holidays,

had become his evil elf mission.

Another Pain In The Ash

Hey everybody,

I thought I would shoot out a quick post as it’s been a few days since you last heard from me. The reason for that is because of another bout of neck pain that decided to pay me a visit last week. I’ve come to realize that although I have dealt with a lot of stress in my life, I don’t always come away from it unscathed. Being a little more stressed these past few weeks as found me once again battling with another pain in the Ash that thankfully, as since passed. To help with the pain, I took some time away from the computer or any screen really so as to not make it any worse. I just decided to go full-on rehab and concentrated on the gym, did some daily stretching, threw in some yoga and it seemed to work. The pain slowly went away just as it did a couple of years ago, only this time it was much quicker as I used a lot of what I learned the first time around. But, I’m back, feeling good, and ready to crank out some entries that I have been hoarding. I have another Red Journal set to come out which I hope you’re still enjoying, I also have a few award replies that I most certainly have to get posted, and I do have some other ideas that are still sitting dormant in my draft folder. I’m hoping to get a few of those I’ve just mentioned out this weekend, so bare with me folks. As always, I appreciate the patience.

The Black Journal – (Break Room, Over Lunch)

Friday, 5:40 p.m.
(Ethan and Sarah come up short with their first visit to The Keep. They decide to spend most of the afternoon going over the witness statements from the bar and various other items of interest scattered in a brown file on a lunchroom table)

Awfully quiet, how’s your Chinese food?

What? Oh, ah…it’s good, it’s good.

Is that right? Well, you wouldn’t say that by what’s left there on your plate. Sarah, you’ve haven’t eaten a thing. You’re not still mad at me, are you?
