In this episode, I am finally freed from the tethers of winter, and Mother Nature has allowed me a small glimmer of hope in the days to come. Spring is here, and with it, a beautiful Saturday to start with. The winter had been extra this year, and with all that life throws at you, it’s nice to look up at the sun and smile for a change. A Shade of Ash # 55 – Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

Hey everyone,

You know how I’m always promoting Newfoundland and Labrador in some way, shape, or form, right? Well, I just thought why not share more given it is St. Patty’s Day. It’s a big deal around here, so allow me to showcase some traditional Newfoundland and Labrador music for you. A taste of the music that’s likely being played in every local pub and bar around the island on a day like today. There is no scarcity of people singing at the top of their lungs, playing traditional instruments including the ugly stick(*see below), getting three sheets to the wind and toasting each other with a few too many green beers. I hope you enjoy these traditional tunes, and they should give you a good sense of how deep our Irish roots are. Let me know your favourite and CHEERS!!!
