Earth to Ash Podcast Episode # 32 – Chapters

Welcome back, join me and my continuing conversation about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to the world around me.

In this episode, I’m on a walk reflecting on closing one chapter of my life and starting a new one. I chat about how every decision in one’s life can change a page forever and the more characters the more interesting the story. And, as always, I throw in a quote and a poem for good measure.

Enjoy!!

A Shade of Ash # 49 – Where Memories Are Mermaid

Ah, mermaids…

I remember being a small boy fighting pirates on the hillside where I played. My friends, my seamen, brave as we sailed the high seas by way of a large stone in the middle of an open field. Arr, she be like the grandest sail a pirate could ever command. We set course in the wind of our imaginations. Three of us slaying and saving mermaids in the hot sun with a mountain backdrop. Our bounty of a summer’s day with the ladies of the ocean made us fight with passion, with heart. We were promised a wet kiss. We told those types of stories. Our own stories because we were kids and that’s where stories start.

There are certain things I pass along the way that remind me of certain people, of certain places, and of certain times. All of which makes me smile both inside and out. Giving me those thoughts, feelings, and emotions once again. The photo above is why I love those very certainties of life. – Ash

I only have a portion of your whole life. But because I gorged, it is enough to sustain me for the remainder of my own. Your stories like ripened fruit that were picked just for me. In the garden, we grew together. They remain sweet to this very day. You taught me there’s no spoil in a deep-rooted yarn. A good yield will last forever when you remember where they’re planted. – Ash

Caught the bus for my afternoon classes only to have them cancelled. What now? Oh, I know. Off to the university library I go. Where I spent almost all of my free time while on campus. It was a five-minute walk from my political science class and I used every second of it to get there. Soaking up the semester sun and atmosphere of an ordinary Wednesday late 1990’s.

Play before reading but on low to not distract you. 🙂

A chronic smoker, that white-haired man who never stopped talking, and the backwash guy. Three reg barflies and a keep. Lies told, secrets shared, and all I heard was “Ah, one more for the road”. Swiftly, I would grab a frosty beer glass from a humming cooler, then reach for the silver tap. Froth to pour, the perfect head, and ding went the register. Sale…total….enter…$2.25.
