Story Jots # 6 – UFOcean

It showed up around seven. On the button because Charlie and I had just left the wharf about to start the last whale tour of the day. We were barely at the edge of the bay where it connects with the rest of the ocean when it first peered through the fog. The fog looked as if it was moving with it. Never once revealing too much of it. At first, we assumed it was some offshore ship coming in for unexpected repairs or supplies. That happens from time to time. You’d be amazed by some of the crazy-looking vessels that drop anchor in this harbour. It’s because of how deep and wide the harbour is, and how world-class our shipyard is known to be.

Something About Today # 5 – Leaf Goes On

I went for a walk just now and, along the way, I saw this single leaf still fixed to the tree. Standing there, I thought about if this symbolized anything. Maybe there was a meaning. Then, in a moment, it came to me. Somedays, I may be fragile. But I am damn strong when it matters. Anyday. I can, have, and will weather any storm. I will always hang on. – Ash

Am I Write? # 27 – Edit and Quit it!

Frustrated because that momentum you have with writing has now been sabotaged by the process of editing? Stop and take a break. Allow some time for your creative session to cook. Even days. Fresh eyes are kryptonite to the backspace key. You can correct me if I am wrong. – Ash

Am I Write? # 26 – It’s the Rhythm of the Write

Photo by MART PRODUCTION on Pexels.com

One of my bad habits with writing is rewriting my work before I have given it a chance to cook a bit. I am impatiently hanging on a paragraph and the paragraphs before it. In a second, the momentum gets sabotaged because I’m too busy going back to edit. Stories change all the time. Ideas evolve and can head in any direction at any time. So, the next time you sit down to write, remember it is better to collect your thoughts than to correct your thoughts. Make good with your time dancing with creativity. Because it is the rhythm of the write, the write, oh yeah! – Ash

Am I Write? # 24 – Have a Feel for Writing

Write in every emotion. Happy, sad, betrayed, excited, vulnerable…whatever. Whatever you feel at a particular moment. When you allow the heart to dictate, the story writes itself. – Ash

Am I Write? # 23 – Write This Second

If you get an idea, take a second and record it. By whatever means necessary. Because I bet the last time you got inspired, you figured you’d remember your creative thought, you didn’t, and now you hate yourself for it. A jot can become a lot, just write. – Ash

So Long, it’s Killing Me Too – The Red Journal

Hey everyone,

It excites me to write that I have something coming down the pipeline with regards to my series “The Red Journal”. I hit a wall with this project an embarrassing long time ago on account of losing my confidence in the story. But, short and sweet, and no bullsh*t excuses. The Red Journal is back in my “works in progress”.

Also, I’m planning a relaunch of the designated page to get everyone up to speed and on the same well…page. So, hang tight, and soon enough we will all be getting another chance to delve back into the lives of Det. Sarah Wilson, Det. Ethan Frost, supporting cast, and the still unknown killer. Someone who has taken quite the shine to Det. Wilson and there is not one single clue to determine why.

Stay tuned for the next chapter in my killer story that’s literally “in the making”. As in, I am making it up as I go…
