Post Of Christmas Past # 2 – The First Snowfall

Ah, the first snowfall in December. I have to say, it’s a magical thing! A bunch of huge snowflakes fall and suddenly I’m ten years old again. Sticking my tongue out as far as I can trying to catch the biggest one. Then, I ran as fast as I could, planting my two feet sideways and sliding halfway down the street. That’s pure joy right there. Yes, Santa is getting ready for Christmas and the snow coming now proves it. I thought that as a young boy and I will think about it forever. It’s the perfect way to bring that smile back to your face that the Grinch might have stolen.

What about you? What special memories of Christmas come to mind for you when you look out the window and see that it has started to snow? Does it take you back to a particular holiday moment in time, or simply put you in the mood for Christmas before you?

By the way, it’s beginning to look…

Post Of Christmas Past # 1 – The Christmas Concert

Photo by Monica Silvestre on Pexels.com

When I think of Christmases past, I remember the school concerts we had every year. After dark bus rides, dress pants too short, running around your classrooms at night, and those blinding stage lights. The moment you spotted your family you instantly wished you never. It was usually the moment my voice cracked.

Ah, the Christmas concert. It was the only time I ever wore tights and didn’t get arrested.

What’s your memory of Christmas concerts? Come on, let me know in the comments. Don’t give in to stage fright!

Journal Entry # 218 – Advice Can Sometimes Come In Waves

Be as the ocean and never stop trying to reach the shore. The harder you struggle, the stronger your waves become. Storm those beaches and change the tide in your favour. – Ash

Now, here’s a minute of waves. Enjoy!!

Journal Entry # 217 – It Came To Me In A Stream

You weren’t scared to be born. We struggle with how we feel about dying. But, before we figure it out, it most likely will be over too. So, all that’s left is to live. Never be afraid to live. Live your life to its absolute fullest and absorb every single moment of it. Because living is something we control. – Ash

Like a flower starving
I long for your light
a drop of you
replenish me
or…
leave me to wilt

Every day is another chance to make it your best day. You can, you will, you should, and you matter. – Ash

They Are Never Gone

The other night, I looked up for the moon
To ask him for a small favour
“Knock for me…at that heaven’s door”
I was alone and needed someone in particular
not only did sky open up and become ours
the clouds even came by for a listen

Journal Entry # 213 – Piece Be With You

When people try to intimidate you, they are masquerading power over their weakness. They think if they bully, they can cover it up in order to take anything they want. Even a piece of you. Don’t give them anything. Be strong and keep yourself together. Every one of those pieces intact. If you can do that, you will realize pretty darn fast that it’s them who’s falling apart. – Ash

Journal Entry # 211 – I Seed The Light

I took a walk yesterday in a palette of reds, browns, and some orange. With clean, crisp, fresh October air filling my lungs, it occurred to me. As leaves change, so have I. What hung to me for so long has now fallen to the ground. The deaths of yesterday sow seeds for tomorrow. They shall bear the fruits of my labour and set strong roots to allow me to weather and grow. – Ash
