Earth to Ash Episode # 48 – I’m Overlooking Things

Welcome back, join me and my continuing conversation about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to the world around me.

In this episode, I am on a completely different path, far from the harbour shore, overlooking things. Seeing the bigger picture and shaking the anxiety off of me, as I sometimes have to do. If not, I overlook life. And, as always, I throw in a poem for good measure.

Enjoy!!

Earth to Ash Episode # 47 – Good Friday, Great Saturday

Welcome back, join me and my continuing conversation about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to the world around me.

In this episode, I am on a brisk morning walk discussing a bunch of things. Particularly, life and death, and how those two aspects of existence have a daily effect on us and how I feel about both of them after recently being touched by loss one again. And, as always, I throw in a poem for good measure.

Mornings of Spring – Haiku

a little bird sits
on a wire wondering where
it shall fly to next

Terminal Panic – Haiku

in a strange city
both sitting at the bus stop
hoping that one’s home

Back Before Supper

my face lay against the sweltering rock

with one side toward the sun kisses

clouds above me stream along

shapes and sizes I make

a tickle breeze keeps me away from biting flies

my knee is skinned and bleeding a little

is it supper time

as a whistle blows

cars scurry home like ants

wait…is that a plane

then we jump

from the rocket-like stone

twist our ankles to the ouch side in

wince and run the whole field in one burst

we reach that one spot and act like kings for a summer second

looking down on the kingdom

running into battle against invisible soldiers

to break through to reach home

where there’s a bush with some berries

by the picket fence and an ant hill

I ate five

you a handful

back then…

back before supper

Welcome back, join me and my continuing conversation about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to the world around me.

In this episode, I’m on my first feel-good Spring walk smiling like something’s a “mist.” Like today’s beautiful damp grey foggy day as Mother Nature starts to clean up after winter. I can relate to days like this, have a listen as I will tell you how. And, as always, I throw in a poem for good measure.

Enjoy!!

A Shade of Ash # 55 – Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

Hey everyone,

You know how I’m always promoting Newfoundland and Labrador in some way, shape, or form, right? Well, I just thought why not share more given it is St. Patty’s Day. It’s a big deal around here, so allow me to showcase some traditional Newfoundland and Labrador music for you. A taste of the music that’s likely being played in every local pub and bar around the island on a day like today. There is no scarcity of people singing at the top of their lungs, playing traditional instruments including the ugly stick(*see below), getting three sheets to the wind and toasting each other with a few too many green beers. I hope you enjoy these traditional tunes, and they should give you a good sense of how deep our Irish roots are. Let me know your favourite and CHEERS!!!

Earth to Ash Episode # 45 – On Your March, Get Set!

Welcome back, join me and my continuing conversation about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to the world around me.

In this episode, I’m on a walk decompressing from another survived week. Thinking about how even though stress and anxiety are bad things, they are necessary at times to make me stronger and more prepared for what else life will throw my way. And, as always, I throw in a poem for good measure.

Enjoy!!

Earth to Ash Podcast Episode # 44 – Feb Up With Winter

Welcome back, join me and my continuing conversation about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to the world around me.

In this episode, I’m on a walk being “feb” up with winter. But the one thing that being out in the elements does for me is make me think about the journey. The journey in life toward something special. We still have a long way to go, but don’t forget to turn around sometimes to see how far we’ve already come. And, as always, I throw in a poem for good measure.

Enjoy!!

Journal Entry # 256 – Weathered

Grey reminds me that I have endured. I have withstood, no matter how raw it has been. How harsh and unforgiving. I look at stormy days as a necessary part of life. A part that teaches you what you are capable of. – Ash
