My Heart in a Bottle

Like a bottle in a vast ocean…I’m drifting
further and further from your beautiful shore, I float
my body breaking against violent waves
which pull me far far from the horizon
alone, I wade, no one around to hear me
for the longest days…the darkest of nights,

Oh, how I’ve prayed to be rescued
pulled ashore only by your hand
chipped and weathered
most of me empty,

nothing left but a note
two words I’ve carried with me for so long
hoping someday my message would reach you
fall from your lips and into your broken heart

I’m sorry

A Shade of Ash # 4 – This Berry Moment

Hey everybody,

Well, well, well…look who it is? I’m sorry, I truly am, please forgive me as real life is a distraction to kill all creativity. Yup, this past week, ah…nutzo, once again. But hey? I survived, I’m here, and I’m ready to share with you lovely folks another Shade of Ash. This time, inspired by a walk. A walk I took yesterday in the foggy mist which got me thinking.

surrounded in the francais
schoolboys like I, chase through stone corridors in jest
pass tank topped bread makers and
rum runners filling dark sacks
who was I to speak to the going-ons of this foreign land
take me instead to the countryside
in an hour less a half
share with me tales
let me sip wine
and pretend that I am a man

Sunshine Blogger Award # 3

Happy Friday everybody,

Boom, as I mentioned in my last post, here’s entry number two of two. Yup, two Sunshine Blogger Awards in a week. Not too shabby. What have I been doing to receive all this love? This time it was FloatingGold who sneakingly nominated me for this award just the other day. I was checking out their blog and as I came to the nominees section I noticed my name on the list. Just like last time, I was both surprised and once again flattered by another tip of the hat from a blogging friend. Thank you for your nomination and thanks for thinking that Earth to Ash is up to your golden standard. (see what I did there?) We’ve been blogging friends for some time now as it is, so seeing this only reinforces that. Now peeps, after you give this my post a read, why not follow the above link and take some time to check out FloatingGold’s little piece of the bloggerverse. You won’t be disappointed.
