Earth To Ash Episode Fifty Seven – Ashing Through The Snow

Welcome back, join me and my continuing conversation about my thoughts, feelings, and emotions to the world around me.

In this episode, I’m out on a December-chilled morning, walking along Ashing through the snow. Most months have a distinct feel. December is definitely one of them. So much so that it broke me free from the strangling grip of writer’s block. Now that I am creating again, I need to talk about it, too. And, as always, I throw in a poem, no wait, two poems for good measure.

Enjoy!!

  1. Oh, how I missed this! So great to hear your voice again! 😊 Wow! 57 episodes – and I’ve probably listened to about 50 of them. I don’t think I listened to all of your earliest ones, but have heard a few and, as you know, haven’t missed a single one since you started back up in ’24 🙂… Congratulations on another year and thank you for doing them…for taking the time to show us around your little corner of the world and for sharing your walks with us – you know how much I love it… I love hearing the sounds of the harbor and the river and all of that just as much as hearing your memories and your stories… Can’t wait for another year of tagging along and enjoying the beautiful scenery and the great company! These talks have often made bad days better and good days even better! 😁 Curtis the pigeon…or maybe his friend Roger…lol… It’s weird to see birds you’re not used to seeing – the other day I saw two seagulls at Walmart. Well, flying around the parking lot, not inside browsing the seafood department…lol… But we’re so far inland that it makes you wonder how they got here and can they survive… I actually stopped and watched them for a few moments because it was just so neat to see a bird I grew up seeing but haven’t seen in years… Anyway, so glad to know you’re back to yourself writing-wise and feeling ready and confident about it going into the new year! Can’t wait to see what inspires you next! Y’know, I don’t remember ever writing Santa a list or a letter or anything like that. I remember going to see Santa a couple times, but one year at the mall, I was about 7 maybe, they didn’t have Santa, but there was this mock up of a ginger bread house and Rudolph’s head was on top like he was looking out an upstairs window – of course thinking back on it, it was more like a mounted deer head…lol… Anyway, Rudolph was there with nose shining bright and you told him what you wanted and I guess there was someone on a microphone talking back a la the Wizard of Oz….lol… Not sure what they were thinking with that …lol… But I think most all of the best memories come from Christmas and honestly, there’s nothing like the Christmases we grew up with in the late-70’s and 80’s…Those are beautiful haiku – keep it up!! And another perfect episode in the books!! Thank you again for these little visits… They mean more than you know – to me anyway….☺️…have a great week ahead… 💕🤗

    1. Thanks for your comment. Now that I have them fixed, you can comment away. Yes, I remember doing all the things aside from writing a letter or dropping it off for that matter. We used to go see Santa a few days before Christmas as the small shop in the are I grew up where Santa would give me a pre-purchased gift. I remember getting a red shovel that I loved. Lol I appreciate you listening and your comment. Let’s see what’s ahead. Until…

      1. … And I can so see you with your red shovel, “digging” up the yard to your grandparents’ chagrin… 😂… 😜…

Lol…that reminds me — each year the fire dept had a Christmas party for the members and their families and one of the firemen dressed as Santa and gave the kids gifts… The only year I actually remember what I got was when I was 6… I got a hardcover illustrated version of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas…and the reason I remember this is because my first grade teacher gave the class gifts and I got the *same exact* book from her and I was soooo disappointed 😞… I mean first of all to get a book for Christmas (which actually wasn’t a bad thing for 6 year old me) but then to get two exactly alike… big bummer …😂…

        Ah, here’s to great memories…😄
